Sunshine at last!!!! Doubtful it will last long though if you listen to the weathermen, mind you two weeks ago they said we were in for a heatwave throughout August and now they are saying the weather will continue to be changeable. Makes you wonder who to believe, doesn't it. The same applies to fitness and healthy eating. Anyone can say anything on the Internet without it being challenged and I hear so often 'but I read it on the Internet'. Just because you read it on the Internet, saw it on a chat show or in a magazine does not mean that it is true. If you are doubtful or just want clarification then ask them on what foundations they base their opinions. I personally only truly validate research that has been done over a lot of people (not 29!) and over a long period of time. How else do you know the true outcome? On the other side of the coin I do know that there is some powerful information out there that if it does come to light will be fantastic but there needs to be some powerful research first. If there isn't then you need to take it at it's face value and fully accept that the current findings may well be inaccurate.

DO NOT FORGET I AM ON HOLIDAY FOR TWO WEEKS FROM 10th AUGUST. ALL CLASSES, SESSIONS AND CONSULTATIONS RESUME FROM 24th AUGUST.

Last Sunday saw me at a 3D Functional Training Workshop in Portsmouth with Marvin Burton and I was totally blown away. He has a huge wealth of knowledge and is surprisingly young (in the nicest possible way!) but even with all his knowledge and list of qualifications an arm long, is so refreshingly down to earth and approachable. He enabled to think completely outside the box. As trainers we are taught a certain way to train and which exercises are best. Whilst this information does regularly change due to further research and studies, all of Marvin's exercises were FUNCTIONAL. This will be the new buzz word and the variations of exercises are endless. I came away from that workshop with thousands more exercises but more importantly I came away with the knowledge necessary to apply those changes to any exercise I choose - brilliant! The press up and squat warm up was brilliant as I am sure my body sculptors from Monday night will testify!

All classes at Swanmore now have the luxury of air conditioning and I cannot stress the huge difference that this has made. The studio used to be very warm and stuffy with only four fans that did little but circulate warm air but we all bravely battled on (thank you for your loyalty!). When the college asked for community feedback I asked you all to comment and people power really does work as a few weeks later we have fully functioning air conditioning with two fans still in place to circulate the now cool air! If you haven't been to classes for a while, come back and enjoy the much improved studio!

Half of the spaces on the Hulacise course have already been booked so if you would like to be part of this amazing waist whittling course then please contact me asap. Also, if any of you would like to do a Fit ball Freestyle six week course at 9am Saturday's to follow on from Hulacise then please contact me to register your interest. Depending on the response I may also run this. Hulacise will whittle down the waist and hips whilst fit ball works the very core muscles to tighten, tone and sculpt.

Nutrition spaces are also going quickly so I would recommend booking sooner rather than later to avoid this half day workshop. I have to admit that I am now beginning to worry how I am going to fit in everything I would like to cover and the packs that I initially had made up may well be growing. I want you to be able to walk away with a wealth of knowledge and information. The packs will also serve as a useful reference tool. You will have the knowledge to be able to work out your own calorie requirements and the ability to work out how many calories you are expending each day - as long as you are honest with yourself! I am always on hand to help you if you get stuck anyway!

Don't forget the new ZUMBA class starts at Whitely Community Centre on Friday 11th September 2009 at 6pm. They have a large, airy studio with windows and doors to let the fresh air in - this will be a fantastic class, I can't wait. There is the possibility of a class in Chandlers Ford from October, that is when the new sports hall with sprung floor will be open and I will also be going to an open day at the new Lordshill Community Centre, although I have never seen this so as yet have no idea whether it will be suitable. You should know by now though, if I can put it on, I will!

I want to finish on a lasting quote that I hope will get you thinking.

'If you do what's hard then your life will be easy. If you do what's easy then your life will be hard.'
This is for those of you who WANT to slim, fit and healthy but can't fit in the time to exercise or struggle with changing eating habits. Fitting in exercise most days if you work full time with a family and partner (or whatever your particular lifestyle is!) is HARD. Changing eating habits that you have had nearly all of your life is HARD. However, if you can focus and DO the hard stuff then the rest really is easy.
Have an amazing week! One more blog next week before my hols - which I am off to book now - yippee!
