Wow, what a week!

This week has been amazing! I have been rushing around like a lunatic trying to get so much done and I made a list of all the things I want to get done and a timeframe, something I am now wondering if this was a wise choice! So, what have I been up to. I am hoping to be working in schools from September and really can't wait. Looking at taking cheerleading, latin dance and hula hooping to the masses and really can't wait. I am so very passionate about this industry as many of you know and I just want to be able to show as many people as possible from all ranges that exercise does not have to be boring, arduous and hard work. It can and should be FUN, FUN, FUN! Ultimately that is what it is all about. If you do something that you don't enjoy or don't get good results from then you will not stick at it, fact! You can't make yourself love going to the gym, so if you don't enjoy it then don't do it. Now, by saying don't do it I am not saying don't do anything! Just play around and have some fun with all and any form of exercise until you find something that you genuinely enjoy. This could be walking, golf, skipping or boxing even. Just experiment.

Maybe you are sat there wondering what consitiutes exercise. There are some people out there who say that you have to sweat and be out of breath for it to be real exercise but I am not convinced of this. If you are doing something in addition to what you would normally do then this all counts. You don't have to go for a 10 mile walk to be able to call it exercise. If you normally drive to walk but choose to cycle then that counts. Taking the stairs instead of the lift, playing footie with the kids, going swimming, these all count and should not be dismissed. What about going out on a Friday night and dance the night away - just watch the alcohol though! If you want to monitor your exercise then get yourself a pedometer that shows aerobic steps and calories burnt. This can be a huge motivator. We all know that we should be walking a minimum of 10,000 steps a day but how many of us achieve this or even know if we achieve this? If you have a fairly sedentary job and are not particularly active then I will pretty much guarantee that you are not meeting this target. Try taking a dance class like Zumba and watch those steps and calories soar! As an experiment I wore my pedometer on Wednesday when I teach two Zumba classes, by the end of the day I have walked over 25,000 steps covering over 13km - I was completely staggered and really pleased!

When looking to purchase a pedometer you do need to pay a little more and get a decent one. I use an Omron one and they have proved to be reliable and accurate. They are around £30 from Amazon. http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0002JZOBY/km-21/ref=nosim?gclid=CJC-1875kpkCFQpNQwodvzwkaA Having just looked at Amazon they are selling them chep so go get one know for the better price!!! If you choose to use a cheaper version these are unlikely to tell you how many calories you are burning or how many aerobic steps you are taking out of your total steps which the omron also does! Also, with the cheaper models it is temping to shake them in your hand to increase your step total!

The one thing that I will guarantee to you 100% is that once you find a form of exercise that you truly enjoy you will LOVE it and you wont see it as a chore, you will WANT to do it and the results will speak for themselves - go out there and enjoy it and reap the rewards!
Have a fantastic week!
