Diets and Slimming Groups

For those of you that know me you already know my views on diest, miracle cures and slimming groups. Now with reference to the latter, if they work for you then great and you can stick to them long term without any problems then I will be one of the first to congratulate you but I KNOW that you guys are few and far between.

What I recently discovered about slimming groups has really made me cross. So, you join up and may or may not have to pay a joining fee. Then you loyally attend every week and get subjected to being weighed and being given a pat on the back or a 'oh that's dissappointing, try harder next week'. Then after working at it really hard you reach your goal weight. Fantastic, you feel elated, over the moon and you get your certificate and at some groups you can then attend the meetings for free. Then the following week you are very pleased when you have lost an additional pound only for the 'leader' to remind you that if you lose too much more you will have to start paying again - what an insult. Whilst I agree that it is careful that you don't lose too much weight this is unbelieveable!

Remember that slimming groups are a business like any other and all they are interested in is whether you pay each week and help to increase their profit margin. So, looking at it from that angle surely it makes more business sense if you continue to fail in your weight loss goals and keep paying your weekly fee.

I don't know how many times I have to keep saying this but miracle cure, pills and potions will not make you lose weight. Rememer that you are trying to lose fat and you need to burn 3500 calories to lose 1lb of fat. Any pill or potion that you have taken and have lost weight on is because you are losing fluid and the tablet is a laxative. Forget the weight loss for a moment, this is not safe or healthy. Forcing your body to get rid of food stuffs that it is trying to digest is inetrfering in an intricate digestion system that when looked after and fuelled properly will work perfectly well on it's own! Your body is a fantastic machine that will operate smoothly and without hitches if you look after it.

While you continue to buy these slimming aids you are only encourgaing the industry and they will continue to feed your obsession while making billions as well. As I have said many times before weight loss is hard and I wish I had the miracle answer but I don't.

When you are trying to lose weight you are trying to change your relationship with food. A relationship that you have been building up from birth, that is a long time. If you were always told you had to finish everything on your plate then it is going to be challenging for you to then learn that it is okay to leave food. You probably don't even know when you are full because you haev spent years ignoring your stomach telling your brain that is has had enough.

If you have made the decision to lose weight or eat more healthily then help yourself and make small, achieveable changes each week. If you don't normally drink water through the day then start off by having a glass a day and then build up from there. You will feel great that you have done it instead of feeling like you have failed because you set your target too high.

Weight loss is hard but not impossible. Make a commitment today and be positive. Healthy eating does not mean that you can't have the foods that you enjoy - it just means you choose not to have them all the time and that way it is even more of a treat - you win both ways!

Have a fantastic week!
